About Janna.
I am moderate to profoundly deaf since birth and wear two hearing aids. I grew up oral and later in life I started my journey learning ASL (American Sign Language). Once I accepted that my hearing loss was a unique part of me and started to appreciate the things it brings me, I started to thrive.
I became a Certified Peer Mentor for the deaf and hard of hearing, having graduated from Gallaudet University’s Peer Mentor program.
I am also a speaker, writer, advocate, and content creator.
My goal is to crush the stigma of hearing loss and get more people talking about it and forming communities by educating the public about various deaf and hard of hearing issues, promoting self-advocacy and helping to challenge stigmas that exist around hearing loss.
I work with individuals to help them come to terms with their hearing loss, realize their authenticity, as well helping hearing parents to help them come to therms with children’s hearing loss.
